Birdhouses, Birdbaths

Decorative Birdhouses protect birds and when coupled with well-stocked feeders and a variety of seeds and insects from your garden, they will find a safe haven in your backyard

If you have clean moving water in your backyard, chances are that you will attract almost 3 times more birds into it. The ideal height would be about 3 inches and your water depth should not be more then 2 inches deep.  Use sprinklers and misters to keep the water moving and splashing. Do not choose a bird bath with an elaborated and striking pattern or design at the bottom of the bath as it may confuse the birds and discourage them from using the bird bath

Food is always a popular way to attract birds to your birdhouses and backyard. You can provide different kinds of food including nectars, small insects, fruits, nuts and seeds to cater to different types of species of birds. Your feeding station should be easy to refill, should display the food prominently to birds, should also hold a reasonable amount of food so you do not have to keep topping it up with food and finally should be able to hold more then one bird at one time. Some of the simple feeding station you can consider buying would be the tube-feeder in which the seeds stay dry and its design prevents spillage of food or you can choose the hopper type of bird feeders which dispenses food automatically when they are needed

You want to keep the birdhouse away from your own house or other areas of activity since most birds will find it too busy to nest there.

Since birds start building a nest in the spring you want to make sure you have the house out well before they are looking for new accommodations. So plan to hang it late fall or winter no later than February or March so you can be ready for your new bird family.

Birds are territorial animals, so having multiple bird houses are not a good idea.
